Just realized I was playing Stardew Valley all wrong after my save file got corrupted
I was about 60 hours into my first farm, fall of year 3, when the game froze during a festival and my save would not load after that. I panicked and almost started over, but my friend Sam told me to check the save backup folder in the game files, and there was a copy from two days earlier. I lost a little progress but got my cows and my greenhouse back, and honestly it made me stop rushing through seasons just to hit goals. Now I play one in game day at a time and actually talk to the villagers instead of skipping their dialogs. Has this happened to anyone else, and do you keep backup saves on purpose or just hope for the best?
Losing a save like that is the worst feeling, been there with a crash mid winter on my second farm. Now I just copy the whole save folder to a USB drive every couple of weeks, takes like ten seconds and saves me the grief. Playing slower really does make the game better though, rushing through just turns it into a checklist.
