Rigged a 60 ton pick in 30 mph gusts near Amarillo and the load had other ideas
Two weeks ago I was on a tank set outside Amarillo and the wind report said 12 mph all morning. By 1pm it was gusting way past 30 and my 60 ton was swinging a 14,000 lb vessel like a pendulum. I shut it down and the super got in my face about the schedule. Told him I'd rather explain a delay than a dropped load. Has anyone else had a super push back like that when you called it for wind?
A 14,000 lb vessel swinging in 30 mph gusts is straight up terrifying. The super wants to gamble with that?
Your call was right, no load is worth somebody's life.
