Hot take: I used to think "just write it ugly" was lazy advice, then chapter 3 of my draft came out in 40 minutes
I fought this for two weeks because I thought a rough draft had to at least be readable, but my sister (who teaches 8th grade English in Tulsa) kept saying the mess is the point. Turns out writing flat, boring sentences on purpose got me from stuck at 900 words to 4,000 in one sitting, and now the story actually exists somewhere outside my head. Does anyone else write deliberately bad filler just to keep going, or am I just late to this?
