Update: wrote 52 bad first drafts in a year, and draft #38 at a diner in Tulsa is the one that finally got picked up | Crappy First Drafts - Guest Forum
Kept noticing this same thing with my cousin who paints houses for a living. He did like 40 estimates before one landed, and it was the one he almost skipped because he was tired. There's something about volume that just wears down the odds, like you have to feed the machine enough bad tries before a good one slips through. Draft #38 at a diner in Tulsa makes total sense to me, the good stuff usually shows up when you stopped trying so hard.
