Saw a $1,200 listing for a jar of 'haunted air' and I finally get why people post this stuff
I used to think those ridiculous overpriced joke listings were just people wasting everyone's time. Then a seller in Akron explained in his own ad that he posts fake listings just to see how many angry replies he gets, and he was up to 340 messages on one post about a 'slightly cursed lamp'. Honestly that made me change my mind, it's basically free entertainment for him. What's the weirdest reply war you've seen break out in a comment thread on one of these?
How many of those 340 messages do you think were just people asking if the lamp was still available? I would 100% be that guy, totally missing the joke and trying to haggle on a cursed lamp like it's a Facebook Marketplace find. My own record is way sadder. I once got into a 40 comment fight with a stranger over whether a $3 mug was actually vintage.
