Scoffed at the 'list 20 random words before you write' prompt, then tried it before a deadline
My students' short stories were all starting the same boring way, so last Thursday I made them list 20 random nouns first and the next batch actually had a talking mailbox and a haunted vending machine in them, so now I'm wondering if anyone else has a prompt trick they thought was dumb until it worked?
