Tried using a thesaurus app for my fantasy novel and it straight up ruined three character names

Last month I wrote a scene where my blacksmith character was 'stubborn' and the app suggested 'obdurate' so I changed it, then realized that word sounds like a foot condition and now I'm reworking half my draft, has anyone else had a writing tool totally backfire on them?

Thesaurus apps can be dangerous for fantasy because they don't understand vibes or word associations. Stick to plain language for character traits and save the fancy words for descriptions or dialogue. Your readers will connect better with simple words anyway.

Fair point Jennifer, but is it really that deep? People can look up words and still have a good sense of tone if they read them in context first.
