Why does nobody talk about turning a prompt into a letter instead of a scene?
For about 3 years I wrote every prompt as a short story, until a writing group friend in Cleveland handed me a prompt at a Tuesday meetup and said "make this a letter from someone who doesn't want to send it." Something about the address and the sign-off made the character show up faster than any scene I'd tried. Does anyone else use a letter or note format to crack a prompt open, or am I just late to this?
