DAE think a 45 minute fix that turns into 3 hours still counts as a small win?
My kitchen sink started dripping last Saturday so I figured it was a quick washer swap. Two trips to the hardware store and one snapped shutoff valve later, I was sitting in a puddle at 9pm with a flashlight in my teeth. The real fix was a $6 cartridge, but I had to cut and re-solder a pipe to get to it. Water is finally dry underneath and the cabinet is back together. Has anyone else had a "simple" repair snowball on them like that?
Man, I gotta push back on the "small win" label here. A snapped shutoff valve means you had to shut off water to the whole house, and cutting and re-soldering a pipe is not a small job no matter how cheap the part was. That's a full-on plumbing adventure with real risk of flooding your place if you get the solder wrong. In my experience the "quick fix" that turns into a 3 hour ordeal is usually a sign the job was never small to begin with, we just didn't know it yet. Your mileage may vary but I'd call that a survival story, not a win. The real win is that your house didn't turn into a swimming pool overnight.
