So the elevator being broken is what it took for people to say hi to each other? That sounds less like a heartwarming moment and more like everyone in the building was totally fine ignoring each other before. A busted elevator is annoying, not some big life lesson. If it takes a broken machine to get folks to act like neighbors, that says more about how closed off people are the rest of the time. Just seems like a stretch to call it a win when basic friendliness only shows up during an inconvenience.
