My favorite coffee mug handle snapped clean off this morning

I was washing it after breakfast and it just came off in my hand, which was a real bummer (it was my lucky mug from a trip to Seattle). I grabbed some super glue and held the pieces together for a full five minutes, counting it out. It's sitting on the counter now, drying, and I'm crossing my fingers it holds. Has anyone else fixed a mug and had it last a good while?

Heard super glue can get brittle with heat, so maybe avoid the dishwasher? Did your lucky mug have a special design?

Oh totally, @sarah_harris is right about the heat thing! I glued a handle back on once and it just snapped again after some hot water. That mug had this faded dinosaur on it, I was so bummed.
