TIL that using a cheap dashcam vs a mid-range one is night and day

I had one of those $30 dashcams from Amazon for about 2 years and thought it was fine until I borrowed my buddy's VIOFO A129 for a trip through Ohio. The video quality at night is so much clearer I could actually read license plates from 3 cars ahead. I finally ordered one for myself after he showed me footage from his last near-miss. Has anyone else noticed a big jump in quality when they spent a little more?

Did you notice a big difference just at night or during the day too? Honestly, the biggest thing I found after upgrading was how much better it handles sudden bright headlights without washing everything out. Even cheap ones can look fine in good light, but on a rainy night is when you really see where your money went.

Read a review once that said the same thing about rainy nights being the real test.
