A founder in Austin showed me his 'growth' chart on a napkin, and it was just one line going up
Met him at a coffee shop on South Congress about 3 years ago. He was raising a seed round and kept saying they were 'post revenue.' I asked him to draw it out. He grabs a napkin, draws one line straight up, no numbers, no dates. I asked where the y axis was. He says 'doesn't matter, the shape is the story.' They shut down 7 months later. Burned through $400k and never hit $10k a month. The napkin thing stuck with me though. Has anyone else seen a founder pitch with zero real numbers and still get checks?
