Laying a flagstone path gave me a new view on rocks

I got sick of mud getting everywhere, so I put in a flagstone path from my back door. The stones came from a local supplier, all rough and different colors. While I was setting them in place, I kept seeing tiny shells and lines in some pieces. It made me curious, so I did some reading online about where they come from. Turns out, flagstone is often limestone or sandstone, formed from old ocean floors. That really stuck with me, thinking my simple walkway is made of ancient stuff. Now I look at every stone wall or gravel drive and wonder about its past. What started as a chore turned into a fun way to learn about geology.
