Sat in on a failed pitch night in Columbus and finally get why our side project died
Honestly I went to a startup pitch night in Columbus 3 weeks ago just to get out of the house, and one founder got torn apart for having 40k users and zero revenue. The judges kept asking who pays, and he kept saying growth first. Ngl it felt like watching our own project die all over again, because we did the exact same thing with a photo app back in 2019. We hit 12k downloads in 5 months and celebrated like we won something, while our bank account sat at $214. The thing that got me was when one judge said 'users are not customers' and the whole room went quiet. I wrote that on a napkin and it is still on my fridge. Did anyone else here chase downloads over dollars and pay for it later?
