Saw a fleet of old school buses converted to RVs at a campground in Flagstaff
I was camping up near Flagstaff last weekend and the site next to me had three old Blue Bird buses parked. Got talking to the owner, and he said he does all the diesel work himself, including swapping the original engines for newer 6.7 Powerstrokes. He showed me his homemade intercooler piping, which was all hand-bent aluminum. Has anyone else here done a full drivetrain swap on a heavy vehicle like that? I'm curious about the mounting challenges.

Sounds like a lot of work for a bus. Couldn't you just drive a normal RV?

Yeah, @avery_foster31 has a point about it being a ton of work. But that's the whole reason to do it. A normal RV is just buying someone else's project. Swapping a drivetrain like that means you know every single part, so you can fix it anywhere. The mounting is the hardest part, you're basically building custom engine cradles from scratch. Way stronger than factory stuff if you do it right.
