Spent $180 on a junkyard injector puller and it snapped on the third use

I figured I'd save some cash and grabbed a used injector puller off Marketplace instead of buying new. It worked fine for the first two pulls on a 6.0 Ford, but on the third one the jaws just gave out and I had to spend another hour fishing pieces out of the bore. Anyone else had bad luck with used specialty tools or do I just need to stop being cheap?

Jeez, that's a rough lesson to learn. Did you check the jaws for any kind of wear or pitting before you bought it, or did it just look okay from the outside? I've found with pullers that a little surface rust can hide cracks that'll let go under pressure.

I had a puller crack on me last year and now I wire brush and inspect every jaw under a bright light before I buy.
