Filed a reasonable accommodation request in 12 words instead of 3 pages and HR answered in 2 days
I used to send long, careful emails to HR explaining my disability and asking for a flexible schedule, and they would sit for weeks with no reply. Last month I tried something new: one short email that just said what I needed, when I needed it, and the exact law that backed it up. Two days later I had approval in writing, and my coworker in Dallas got the same result using my template. I think the long stories gave them room to debate, while the short one gave them nothing to push back on. Has anyone else found that shorter accommodation requests get faster answers, or did I just get lucky with this one?

Had the same thing happen with my old job. I wrote this long email about my back problems and why I needed to work from home two days a week, explained my whole history, gave them every detail. Nothing for almost a month. Then my wife told me to cut it down, so I sent basically three sentences, said what I needed and cited the ADA. Got a yes in like four days. Lesson learned for me was that they don't need your life story, they need a clear ask they can say yes or no to. Long emails just give them stuff to pick apart.
