Had a rough week at the grocery store with my cane last Tuesday

I've always made do with my folding cane in tight aisles, but last Tuesday I hit a display of canned tomatoes with my elbow and knocked half of them over. The manager came over and told me I needed to "be more careful" instead of asking if I needed help or if the aisle was too narrow. That night I looked up ADA aisle width requirements and realized my local store fails by almost 2 feet in places. I decided right then to start calling stores ahead of time to ask about their layout instead of just dealing with it. Has anyone else had luck getting a store to change their aisle setup?

Be more careful, huh, like the cans planned to jump off the shelf on their own?

Cans don't plan anything, they're just sitting there waiting for someone to drop them lol. It's more about people not paying attention when they grab stuff.

Right, because nothing says "helping customers" like blaming someone for existing in your aisle space. Maybe they think elbow room is a luxury item, like the overpriced organic kale. Must be nice to be the manager who sees a mess and thinks "accident" before "design flaw.
