Am I the only one who used to fix a flat in 45 minutes and now it takes me 10?
For years I did the full ritual. Pull the wheel, dig out the tire levers, yank the tube, patch it, wait for the glue, pump it up, listen for the hiss, swear, do it again. One time in my garage it took me three tries because I kept pinching the tube on the way back in. A buddy who races showed me his trick last summer and I almost felt dumb. He does not even patch on the road anymore, he just swaps in a fresh tube, finds the thorn or glass in the tire by running a glove around the inside, and rides off in about 8 minutes. Now at home I still patch the old tubes in a batch on Sunday with a cold patch kit, but out on the road it is swap and go, no glue, no waiting. The thing that got me was the glove trick, because twice I had put a patched tube right back on top of the same little wire that poked it in the first place. Do you all carry a spare tube plus a patch kit, or just pick one?
