My sunflowers grew a face this summer

I was out watering my garden patch in late July, near the fence line behind my shed, when I spotted it. One of my sunflowers had three heads that fused together in a cluster that looked like a creepy smiling face with a crooked nose. The petals were all twisted and one eye was a smaller deformed bud that just made it worse. I let it keep growing because it fit the weird garden vibe, and honestly it brought more laughs than any scarecrow I've built. Has anyone else had a mutant plant that just looked too funny to pull?

Three years ago I would have pulled that thing on pure instinct because I couldn't stand looking at something that wrong in my garden. But last season I let a tomato plant grow that had two stems fused into a weird heart shape and it became my absolute favorite plant, even though the tomatoes came out all lumpy and misshapen. That sunflower face sounds hilarious and honestly kind of precious in its own ugly way. It's wild how nature just does stuff like this sometimes, like the plant decided to troll you instead of just growing normal. I'm glad you let it ride out the season, those mutant plants end up being the most memorable ones. Might have to try sunflowers next year just to see what weirdness pops up.
