Warning: quit buying those plastic garden gnome molds, they make junk, I built a real scarecrow from scrap instead | DIY Bizarre Garden Stuff - Guest Forum
Honestly those plastic molds aren't as bad as people make them out to be. My neighbor has been using the same one for like six years now and his little gnomes are still holding up fine out in the yard, rain and all. Scrap scarecrows are cool and all but not everyone has the time or the scrap wood sitting around, and some of us just want a quick cheap project that works. Plus gnomes are kind of their own thing, they're cute and small, where a scarecrow is big and takes up a whole corner of the garden. Feels like comparing apples to oranges a little bit here.
Oh sure, and next you'll tell me his gnomes also do his taxes and walk the dog. Your neighbor's six year old plastic success story is great and all, but one guy getting lucky doesn't mean those molds hold up for everyone. Your mileage may vary, just saying.
