Bought a $70 heat gun for EVA foam and it saved my whole project
I was working on a Mandalorian helmet last month and my first try at shaping the foam turned into a crumpled mess because I was using a hair dryer that just doesn't get hot enough. A guy at my local craft shop in Portland told me to grab a basic Wagner heat gun for around $70 and it made a huge difference because the foam actually holds the curve now. The scary part is you have to keep the gun moving or the foam bubbles up and gets shiny spots that won't take paint. I almost ruined a $15 sheet of foam on my second attempt because I held it too close for too long in one spot. What temp setting are you all running for 10mm foam, because I'm still guessing over here?
