Silicone mold pulled off 20 perfect resin casts, then the 21st tore clean in half
Built a foam and worbla gauntlet for a con last fall and wanted to make a full resin copy for the second day of the event. Mixed my own silicone mold with a kit from a local shop in Portland, spent like 9 hours total on the brush on layers. First 20 casts came out sharp, details crisp, zero bubbles. Then the 21st one stuck so bad the mold split right down the finger line. Turns out I forgot to reapply release agent after the 15th pull. My buddy at the shop said he's had molds go past 50 pulls but he always wipes on a fresh coat of release every single time. Any tricks for getting more life out of a silicone mold without buying the expensive spray release every week?
