I finally got told my monitor was too high and I was wrong for years

Had a buddy who does ergonomics come over and he straight up said my neck was gonna give out by 50 with how I had my monitor propped up. He dropped it 3 inches lower and now my shoulders actually relax. Anybody else get handed a reality check about their setup from a friend?

My chiropractor told me the same thing after I spent a year with my monitor basically floating above my head like a TV in a hospital waiting room. I had it up so high because I thought it was better for my posture, but turns out I was just craning my neck upward like a pelican. Lowered it down to where the top of the screen is at eye level and my shoulder pain basically disappeared in two weeks. Now I tell everyone to ignore those "monitor arm at max height" flex posts online.

lol yeah the "monitor arm maxed out" flex is the worst advice ever. I fell for that too until my PT set me straight. Top of screen at eye level is the real move, everything else is just gonna wreck your neck.
