Shell swap gone wrong on the bus, thumbstick flew into a stranger's coffee

Last Tuesday I was swapping a clear shell onto my old PS4 controller during my commute into Cleveland, and the face button springs launched everywhere. One thumbstick rolled right into this guy's travel mug, he just stared at me while I fished it out with my keychain screwdriver. Has anyone else had a mod part go rogue in public, or am I the only one who should have waited for my basement workbench?
