Spent $95 at the ReStore on a 'solid oak' door last month and half of it is particle board
I picked up a door at the ReStore in Dayton last month for $95 because the guy at the counter swore it was solid oak from an old house on Fifth Street. Got it home, started sanding it down for a desk top, and the whole bottom third turned out to be particle board painted to look like grain. Is there any way to spot that before you pay, or do you just have to cut into it and hope for the best?
