TIL my neighbor's 'quick fix' for a leaky gutter was just a roll of duct tape and a prayer
After hearing him brag about it lasting 'a whole season' before the whole thing peeled off during a storm in April, I'm now a firm believer that sometimes the right tool is worth the extra trip to the hardware store, what's the most absurd shortcut you've seen someone try?

Oh man, that duct tape story hits close to home. Seen so many of those "temporary" fixes that outlive their welcome by years. The cereal box drywall is a new one though, that's honestly kind of impressive in a sad way. It's wild what people will try to avoid a ten minute drive and a five dollar tube of caulk.

What about using a cereal box and packing tape to patch a hole in drywall? My old roommate swore by it, but you could see the Lucky Charms leprechaun through the paint. Some people just refuse to buy spackle.
