Finally got my DIY fuzz pedal to fire up on the first try after 6 dead builds
I've been building a germanium fuzz clone on and off since March and the first 6 attempts all hissed or just plain died. This past Saturday I swapped in a matched pair of transistors I got from a guy in Portland for $12 and it worked the second I plugged in. I sat there with my junky practice amp and played the same riff for like 20 minutes straight, just grinning like an idiot. My soldering iron tip is shot and my desk is a disaster of clipped leads, but I don't even care right now. The bias trim pot was the whole problem the entire time, I had it cranked way too hot. Anyone got a decent cheap source for germanium transistors that don't break the bank? I want to build a second one but the prices I'm seeing are nuts.

Heard Russian germanium transistors on eBay go cheap if you buy from Ukraine.
