My $40 breadboard meter was lying to me the whole time
I was debugging a fuzz pedal build last Saturday and my cheap multimeter kept reading 4.5V on a node that should have been 9V. Turns out the probe leads had a broken internal wire that only showed up when I wiggled them, swapping in my $15 amazon backup leads fixed everything. Has anyone else had a budget meter or test lead give you phantom readings that sent you chasing the wrong part of the circuit?

That's why I keep a $5 harbor freight meter around, just to catch the cheap ones lying...
