PSA: Skip the fancy $40 solder fume extractor, get a $12 fan instead

Ngl, I bought that pricey fume extractor last month and it barely pulls air, while a cheap clip-on fan from Target near my bench in Denver clears the smoke way better. Has anyone else ditched the branded gear for basic hardware and gotten better results?
