Cut my 30th lathe blank in the garage and finally counted what I've spent on needles
I've been cutting records on a beat up Presto in my garage in Boise since winter, and I kept a running total of every stylus I've gone through. Hit blank number 30 yesterday and the count came to 9 needles, which works out to about 43 bucks a record just in cutting tips before I even touch the vinyl. I guess I figured it was maybe 4 or 5 by now, so seeing that number stung a little. Anyone else tracking cost per record, and is there a sharpening trick I'm missing or do I just eat it?
