Figured a homemade record weight was snake oil until my copy of Rumours stopped skipping
Honestly I thought a lump of brass on the spindle was just showing off, but I machined a 180 gram puck in my shop in Boise last week and it flattened a slight warp in my copy of Rumours that had skipped on the intro of "Dreams" for a month. Turns out the extra mass on the spindle keeps the needle tracking steady through small warps, at least on my setup. What weight or clamp setup are you all using, and does it make a difference on newer pressings or just old ones?
