PSA: cutting a pool noodle lengthwise made the best $1.25 cable ramp for my garage floor
I kept tripping on the charging cable running to my car in the garage, so I sliced a Dollar Tree pool noodle down the middle, tucked the cord inside, and duct taped it flat, and it has held up for 4 months of driving over it, has anyone tried a cheaper fix that does not get squished in cold weather?
Cold makes foam stiff and brittle, but the real weak spot is the sun. UV breaks down the noodle over time, so even in winter a garage with a window can cook it during the day and leave you with crumbles by spring. Wrapping the whole thing in that stretchy self fusing silicone tape seals out water and light, and it stays soft down to around minus 50. Costs a few bucks but you only do it once. What kind of floor are you laying it on, bare concrete or something sealed?
