Spent 3 years stapling plastic sheeting to my windows every fall and finally realized the $1.25 shrink film kits do the same job in 20 minutes
Every October I would drag out the heavy drop cloths I got at the hardware store years ago and tape them over the frame with painter's tape, and every March the tape peeled paint off and I swore I would figure out a better way. Last fall my neighbor asked why I was doing all that when the dollar store sells window insulation film kits for $1.25 a piece. I tried one on the drafty kitchen window and the room held heat so well the furnace barely kicked on that night. I did the whole house for under $10 and it took one afternoon instead of a whole weekend. The tape that comes in the kit is the part people mess up, you have to press it down flat and then hit it with a hair dryer before it really seals. Anyone else use the cheap film kits, and do you leave the tape up for next year or pull it every spring?
