Why does everyone say to prime dollar store wood first? I skipped it and now I'm second guessing
I was at the Dollar Tree on 5th in Boise last week grabbing craft wood for a little planter box and the lady next to me swore you have to prime the cheap blocks or the paint just drinks in and looks patchy. But my neighbor Gary says priming is a waste of a whole extra step on a $3 project and he's been building little shelf things for years. So which is it, does the primer actually change how the paint lays down or is it just something people repeat? Would love to hear what actually worked for you on the cheap wood stuff.
