PSA: Spent 45 minutes looking for a pencil that was behind my ear the whole time

I was working on a set of electrical plans for a commercial building last Tuesday, and I kept losing my drafting pencil. Every time I needed to mark a dimension, it was gone. I checked under my desk, in my tool pouch, even shook out my bag. After about 45 minutes of this back and forth, I got up to grab a coffee and caught my reflection in the break room window. That dang pencil was tucked right behind my ear the whole time. Felt like a total clown. Three other drafters in my office just laughed when I told them. Has anyone else had a brain fart like that where you search for something basic for way too long?

Honestly, I once searched my whole apartment for my phone while talking on it to my mom.
