Rant: My boss told me to use the old plotter for a rush job and it ate the Mylar

We had a set of foundation plans due yesterday for a permit in Austin, and the main plotter was down. My boss said to use the old HP 750C in the back, which we keep for parts. I loaded a fresh sheet of 36-inch Mylar, hit print, and it started fine. Halfway through, it made a grinding noise and just stopped, with the sheet crumpled and jammed in the rollers. I spent the next hour picking tiny bits of torn drafting film out of the feed mechanism. Learned that 'backup' gear needs a test run before you trust it with a deadline. Anyone have a good fix for a plotter that chews up media?

That old plotter was probably hungry for a deadline snack.

Printers always act up when you need them most. My old one used to jam right before big presentations. It's like they have a sixth sense for stress.
