Swore I'd never use a dimensions layer in my CAD files until a lead drafter called me out
I've been drawing shop plans for 5 years and always did my dimensions by hand because I thought a dimension layer was just bloat. Last month a lead drafter at a machine shop in Akron pulled up my sheet and said 'why are you dragging every line from scratch when the model already knows the number?' Took me about 20 minutes to set up a layer with associative dims and my next 3 part drawings came together in half the time. On the last one I moved a hole pattern 0.25" and all 6 callouts updated on their own instead of me chasing each one. Now I feel kind of dumb for fighting it that long. Anyone here run associative dimensions on everything, or do you keep a few manual ones for weird angles and notes?
