inWarning: I used to think balayage was just a fad
Yeah but that regrowth still needs a touch-up eventually. It just looks softer while it grows out. Foils give way more lift and clean lines if that's what the client wants. Balayage can get muddy on some hair types, seen it happen. It's not a magic fix for everyone.

inTalked to a client who's been coming to my chair for 20 years
Hold up, that sounds like a fast track to burnout. You're basically giving away your time for free, and that adds up to a whole lost appointment every day. Those catch-ups are nice, but they train clients to expect free extras, and then you're working more for the same money. Gotta set clear boundaries or your schedule will never be your own.

inPSA: I had to choose between a cheap LED mask and a professional-grade one for my home clients.
Made the same mistake with a cheap laser level last year. Thing fell apart mid-job, left me measuring a whole room by hand like some kind of caveman. My wallet learned its lesson the hard way.

inHad a draft horse with a cracked hoof wall that kept splitting higher up.
Actually, a lot of farriers I know will use super glue for small cracks or quick fixes in a pinch. The acrylic or patch is definitely the better, longer-lasting fix for a bigger problem, but super glue has its place in the toolbox.

inMy phone was dying every afternoon until I checked the battery settings
Honestly, checking background app refresh was a game changer for me too. Screen brightness is another huge drain, so I keep mine lower on auto. Also, social media apps are vampires, they just run constantly. Force closing those when I'm done helps a ton.
