Rant: New guy on the crew laughed at my old cable-hung bucket, then saw the weekly grease chart on my cab wall
Had a helper on my dredge near the dock at Pascagoula last Tuesday and he pointed at my 12 year old cable rig and made a joke about how rough it looked. I didn't say anything, just handed him my clipboard with the last 3 years of daily lube logs and wire rope checks written in it. He went quiet for about ten minutes flipping pages, then asked if I'd teach him how to set up his own log sheets. Turns out he'd never seen anyone track drum wear and cutter head hours on paper before. For you guys running older spuds and winches, do you keep written logs too or has everybody moved to tablets out there?
