Unpopular opinion: I don't get the hype around fermented foods in fine dining.

Every new place seems to have a fermented item on the menu. It tastes funky to me, but maybe I'm missing something.

You mentioned the coffee tastes like old roses. Did your cousin have any reason to use your French press for flowers? Sometimes people do weird things without thinking, but it's frustrating when it ruins your stuff.
