The worst week on the river started with a snapped anchor chain.
We were on a channel job near Baton Rouge, and the chain let go at 4 AM on a Monday. Spent the next three days just trying to get the bucket back in position while the current fought us. The boss kept saying we should have used a heavier grade, but I think the swivel was the real weak point. Anyone else had a simple fitting fail and ruin your whole schedule?

Ever have a cheap shackle go bad? We lost half a day on a dredge because a pin sheared clean. Boss bought the bargain bin hardware and it cost us more in downtime than good stuff would have. Felt like every time we got close, something else would slip. That kind of delay just kills the whole flow of the job.

Ruin your whole schedule" seems a bit much. It's just a few days on the water, stuff breaks all the time. Was the schedule really that tight to begin with?
