Ran hot mud through a paint sprayer on a garage ceiling and it turned into a mess
Back around 2019 I got the bright idea to speed up a garage ceiling job in Allentown by thinning out some 45 minute mud and shooting it through an old airless sprayer. The mud clogged the tip inside of 2 minutes and when I pulled it apart the stuff had set up in the hose like concrete, so I ended up tossing a $40 hose and going back to a hawk and trowel. Lesson was that hot mud sets on its own clock whether I like it or not, and a sprayer just gives it more places to hide. These days I keep the sprayer for texture only and mix small batches when I need to move fast. Anyone out there get a sprayer to work with setting compound, or is that just asking for trouble?
