A USPS clerk in Columbus caught a mistake that saved my store $900

I was dropping off 42 boxes for our weekly orders last Tuesday and the clerk, this older guy named Dave, asked to see my printed labels. I thought he was just being nosy, but he pointed at the zip codes on about 15 of them. Apparently my address verification plugin was pulling the city from one field and the zip from another, so I had packages going to Cleveland with a Toledo zip. They would've bounced around for days, maybe a week, and with perishable items that's basically a loss. He had me reprint right there at the self-serve kiosk, took an extra 20 minutes but no charge. Has anyone else had address validation software silently fail like this? What do you use to double check bulk shipments before you hand them over?

Is it just me or does it feel like every piece of software these days quietly breaks in the most annoying way possible? I swear I spend more time double checking my own work than the actual work itself now.
