Overpaid for a label service that just resold USPS rates
Signed up for one of those discounted label platforms last month. Paid $29 a month for the premium plan. Turns out the rates were the same as going to the Post Office counter. My first batch of 40 packages cost me an extra $1.20 each compared to just using Pirateship or even the USPS website. That's $48 down the drain before I noticed. Their tracking dashboard was also three hours behind real updates. Customers were emailing me asking where their stuff was. I cancelled after week two but they charged me for the full month anyway, non-refundable. Has anyone else had luck with these middleman shipping tools or are they all just fluff?
I got burned by one of those too, then switched to just buying labels straight through USPS Click-N-Ship for anything under a pound and Pirateship for the rest. What actually saved me was printing my own labels at home and scheduling a free carrier pickup, which cut out the whole middleman thing. My rates dropped right away, and the tracking updates come straight from the source instead of some dashboard that lags behind. For the refund mess, I started using a card that lets me dispute charges, and I got my money back on a similar "non-refundable" plan. Now I test any new tool with five packages before paying for a full month.
