Split the shipping bill with my supplier, half my orders now arrive late

I let my supplier talk me into splitting delivery costs 50/50 to save my margin, but now USPS ground takes an extra 3 days on half my orders and my customers are getting annoyed, has anyone else traded cost for speed and regretted it?
