Vent: Realized I was sanding drywall compound way too late
I spent 6 months sanding my mud until it was glass smooth, then a contractor buddy walked in and laughed. He said I was supposed to catch it when it was still a bit damp, not wait for it to fully cure. Anyone else get stuck doing extra work because nobody told you the timing was off?

six months is wild but honestly you probably woulda been fine either way. i've done drywall both ways and the damp method is faster but the fully cured smooth finish is just as good if not better. your buddy was just busting your chops, it's not like the house is gonna collapse over it. drywall sanding is miserable no matter when you do it.

Oh man, six months. I once started a drywall patch in my laundry room that is now a permanent part of the decor because I kept "forgetting" to buy the right sandpaper. Took me about a year to admit I just hated the job. Holly's right about the misery too. I'd rather deep clean my oven with a toothbrush than sand a single corner bead ever again. Your buddy was definitely just having a laugh at your expense.
