Update: Tablet repair demand is rising in my town
In my local repair shop, tablet repairs have doubled this year. We see mostly cracked screens from falls and worn out batteries that won't hold a charge. A customer brought in an old tablet she uses for her online classes. It would not turn on after a year of heavy use. I found the battery was swollen and needed replacement. Parts for some models are getting cheaper, which helps. But newer tablets have glued parts that take longer to fix. This trend keeps us busy and learning new methods.

Totally seeing the same thing at our local shop. Just last week a guy brought in a tablet with a battery so swollen it popped the screen off. He said it was just sitting on his nightstand when it happened. Those glued together models are such a pain to open without breaking something else. It's wild how these things go from daily use to paperweights so fast.

It's happening with laptops too, especially the thin ones. We get a few MacBooks every month where the trackpad is clicking weird because the battery underneath is pushing it up. Once they swell, you're racing against time before they damage the logic board or case. Proper disposal is key because a punctured swollen battery is a serious fire risk.
