I finally checked an old elevator's oil logs, found a surprise from 1978
We replaced a 40-year-old hydraulic unit in a building off 5th and Main last week, and the maintenance book tucked behind the controller had entries from the original installer. Turns out that elevator ran on the same mineral oil for 31 years straight, and the viscosity readings were still within spec when we drained it. Anyone else ever find something wild in an old machine room logbook?

Mineral oil from 1978 still checking out is decent, but elevators dont exactly run hot like an engine. Pretty low bar for whats "wild".
